About the festival

An overview

• A festival of creative and documentary photography by noted international and Czech authors
• Photography slideshows in cinemas with musical background
• Open air photographic projections
• Unusual workshops
• Infiltration of photography into other festivals

To get an idea what the slideshows look like, go to Slideshows online section. Of course, they look better in a dark cinema full of people on large screens...

In more detail...

Some of the best creative and documentary photographers of the world will introduce their work at the seventh international festival of photography Fotojatka!

Unlike similar events of the kind, Fotojatka does not present photography as a static gallery exhibition, but dynamically on a cinema screen with musical background. This way you have a singular opportunity to see several hundreds of top-notch images by more than ten great authors in one evening – moreover, some of them will be present at the festival in person and ready to discuss their work and perhaps meet you over a coffee in the cinema café.

Emotional experience shared by the spectators sitting in the same dark theatre, watching photographs accompanied by sound that creates the right atmosphere – that is something that no other photographic festival can offer you.

And what's more - you cannot see the slideshows elsewhere, they are all custom made for the festival.

unusual workshops

Fotojatka is not only a festival of cinema screenings. Inspiration that you've absorbed while watching the professionals' work certainly shouldn't be wasted. Join one of the unusual workshops, which are aimed at creativity and originality of the general public of camera owners and see how you can cope with the topics you need to visualize in a limited time and limited area!

Open-air projections

A special chapter of the festival are large-size projections on town exteriors. After the positive response we got after the projection on the Black Tower in the centre of České Budějovice in the spring of 2008 and the Screenrental's Airscreen projection at the Budějovice square in September 2009, we organize we've decided to spread the concept into other locations.

In 2010, 2011 and 2012, as a part of Fotojatka in České Budějovice, we organized an "en route" photoprojection at several places in the centre of the town. Every year, it is a larger and more popular event (with hundreds of people attending).

Fotojatka at festivals

Similarly to previous years, Echoes of Fotojatka will be present at other festivals, too. In 2009, our programme was a part of Letní filmová škola (Summer film school) in Uherské Hradiště and at Fresh Film Fest in Karlovy Vary, in 2010 and 2011 we took part in Vodňany žijou! festival (Vodňany lives!), in Svatý P.R.D. (a festival of street theatres) as well as other multigenre cultural events. In 2012 we took part in several festivals in České Budějovice, Plzeň, Ostrava, Liberec and other locations.

fotojatka echoes

Between Fotojatka 2010 and 2012 Fotojatka spread its tentacles to other towns and cities of the Czech Republic and even penetrated its borders to be present in Slovakia and Poland. This time, however, without the presence of the authors.
